Every year, the Italian Holstein Friesian Genetic Base is updated. This adjustement is due to the genetic improvement of Holstein population. Therefore, animals taken into account for the 2020 index calculation are cows born between 2012 and 2014.
The result is that the genetic evaluation comparison between the current and the past year must be correct by a variation index, whether for productive, morphological or functional indeces.
In particular, the result of the genetic improvement of the Italian Holstein Friesian population has meant an overall decrease of indeces, as the table below shows. So, the comparison between 2019 and 2020 must be corrected by a specific variation index:
* The improvement of PFT Index is 104.00kg. However, the variation is null because the PFT is the only one index that takes into consideration the genetic improvement of the animals. This allows an immediate comparison between different years.
Last but not least, the improvement of the Economic Index IES is 46,66 , while the improvement of ICS-PR Index is 67,20 .
